Top gun: Maverick (2022): Worthy sequel

Tom Cruise is back doing what he does best: flashing his superstar smile and flexing his bizarrely ageless body in a realistically believable movie that, for all its macho contrivances, still manages to take your breath away.

Starting, the movie does one thing totally right. It sets the tone! Music, leather and speed.

Terminator (2019): please be back

I ‘ll be back… to see another terminator movie no matter how good or bad its gonna be. But dude, I would like it to be good. Even early on, you can tell that the movie cares more about partially satisfying some minorities than having some heart.

Godzilla (2019): talking too much

I do not know how they did it and why I feel this way but the roar of Godzilla really wakes the scared child inside me.

From a cinematic approach this is a jaw dropping film. They used every modern tool available (and human experience and talent – always give credit to that) to create stunning effects, scenery and obviously monsters. Realistic, scary, thinking monsters.

Shazam (2019): adultified

You grew up in an era where superheroes were born and their personalities and powers where shaped through comics. The probabilities touch 100% that you have imagined yourself to suddenly acquire superpowers. And you have also dreamt of suddenly being an adult.

Dumbo (2019): the force of a remake

At least we know Dumbo got his name from the name Jumbo that changed the first letter for something less appropriate.

Dumbo is born from a circus elephant that was bought to help fight the declining visitor rate and save the circus. Then the plan was that the unexpected baby-elephant would attract the press and then more visitors. However a plot twist unraveled.

Dark Phoenix (2019): breaking timelines

Having a big legacy and decent expectations to fulfill, with a first thought, the Dark Phoenix exceeds them.

And sooner or later, here comes the catch.
